Die Antwort ist einfach! Auf meinen zahlreichen Reisen in die Welt fand ich viele beeindruckende Plätze, die mir unvergesslich in Erinnerung blieben.
Seien es die Vulkane Chiles, die Pyramiden Ägyptens oder die Gärten Japans – nichts hat mich mehr berührt und tiefer seine Spuren in mir hinterlassen, als der Welt größte Sitka-Fichten im Carmanah Valley an der Westkuüste von Britisch Kolumbien in Kanada.
Hier reifte vor über 20 Jahren der Entschluss mich als
Fotograf und Filmemacher selbständig zu machen. Zu Ehren
dieses außergewöhnlichen Platzes und als Erinnerung an die
Tage im Carmanah Valley trage ich als Künstler diesen Namen.

Carmanah, das bedeutet: 

Die Einfachheit, die aus der Nähe zur Natur, ihrer Strenge und Anmut resultiert, fordert die Konzentration auf das Wesentliche. Das ist das, wonach ich als Fotograf strebe.

Why CARMANAH?

That is easy to answer. On all of my journeys around the world I found a lot of impressive places - unforgetable. The volcanoes of Chile, the pyramids in Egypt or the Zen-Gardens in Japan. But never I found a place that touched my soul deeper than the worlds largest sitka-spruce trees in the Carmanah Valley at the westcoast of British Columbia in Canada. 

There more than 20 years ago, I decided to start to be an independent photographer and film maker and in honor of this place and the days in Carmanah Valley, today as an artist I carry the name “Carmanah”.
CARMANAH, that means:

The simplicity resulting from proximity to nature due to the strictness and grace demands the concentration on the essential.
 
That´s what I as a photographer strive for.
